Jakarta Provincial Government will give compensation money to evicted citizens who live on illegal land. Jakarta Regional Secretary, Saefullan said, this policy will publish in near future. Now still wait to be signed by the Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. "The amount of the compensation money as much as 25 percent from taxable value of property on the area," said Saefullah, Thursday (10/30).

The compensation money, Saefullah added, will be given to the citizens who been evicted because of the government project. Moreover, Jakarta Provincial is intensively curbing, especially for the citizens who stay on the riverbank. Because their existence make the river narrow and it can not accommodate the water and finally makes flood.

Legal basis in this Governor Regulation is Law No 2/2012 about Land Procurement for Development for the Public Interest. Consider it much happens in Jakarta. "Technically, it will be given to citizens who live on state-land but but still paying tax," he added.

Saefullah continued that this way is more humanizing and expected could shorten the time of land acquisition if compared to via trial. Many projects are constrained because of long acquisition process.

Previously, Jakarta Provincial Government stops the compensation money. Because it feared the money is used for inappropriate activity. Jakarta Provincial Government also provides the low cost apartment (Rusunawa) for the citizen lived on illegal land and being evicted.
